Coast Guard Academy Announces Incoming Class

New London, CT - The United States Coast Guard Academy men's lacrosse team has announced the arrival of a strong incoming group that is part of the Class of 2014. The Bears were challenged to fill several positions vacated by graduating cadets now serving in the fleet, but a successful recruiting season seems likely to fill the gaps. Eleven new cadets round out the list from nine different states.

Head coach LCDR Brian Krautler said, "We are very excited at the level of talent of this year's incoming class. We were able to find a great group of driven and accomplished players from all over the country, at every position, to push our returners and make an immediate impact to the lineup."

"The goal for this year's recruiting class, as always, was to find quality young men to serve in the Coast Guard. Our next goal was to add overall depth to our team while bringing up the skill level," said Coach Krautler. "As a coaching staff we feel like we have far exceeded those goals.

"This is a group of well-rounded student athletes that possess the character, work-ethic and hunger to represent the Coast Guard Academy, serve their country and become Commissioned Officers in the United States Coast Guard. We are very excited that they and their families have agreed to join the Coast Guard men's lacrosse family."

This year's recruiting class has the ability to produce immediate impact players for this upcoming year. The incoming cadets will join a Bears team that only lost three players to graduation from last year's squad, which finished 2nd in PCLL Division 2.

Assistant Coach LT Marty Berg notes, "We are very excited about adding talent and athleticism to our core of returning players. We will have a nice combination of senior leadership and talented underclassmen that can take our program to the top of the PCLL."
