Siena Men's Lacrosse Names Team Captains for 2011

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. Siena men's lacrosse head coach Brian Brecht announced today that rising senior John Rogener and red-shirt junior Tom Morr will serve as team captains for the 2011 Saints. The duo will look to lead a Siena team that has tied a program record with 12 wins each of the past two seasons.

"We are excited about the start of fall practice and I am proud to name Tom Morr and John Rogener as our captains for the 2011 season," commented Brecht. "Both are true student-athlete's who have been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team the past two years. Their passion and presence on the field and commitment to the program off of it and in the classroom make them the perfect ambassadors for Siena Lacrosse and our campus community."

A midfielder from Dix Hills, N.Y., Rogener was a Second Team All-MAAC selection after appearing in all 17 games last season in which he made nine starts. He was second on the Saints with 51 groundballs and tied for third on the team with a career-high 26 points, while also posting career-highs in goals (15) and assists (11).

Morr, who hails from Rockville Center, N.Y., redshirted last season but is expected to challenge for the starting goalie spot in 2011. In his first two seasons, Morr saw action in 13 games posting a 7.42 goals against average while saving 56.1% of the shots he faced.

The Saints will play a fall scrimmage at the University of Delaware on Oct. 24 against Ohio State, Navy and the host Blue Hens. Rogener and Morr will captain a team that opens the 2011 season at defending national champion Duke Feb. 12.
