Delaware Announces New Assistant Coaches for 2010-2011

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware athletics department has announced the addition of seven new staff members to assistant coaching positions for the 2011 Blue Hen spring sports teams.

Among the new assistant coaches joining the Blue Hens are J.P. Brazel (men's lacrosse) and Mat Faas (women's lacrosse).

A former standout goalie at Colonial Athletic Association rival Hofstra, Brazel joins the defending CAA champion Blue Hens and head coach Bob Shillinglaw after serving as an assistant at Sacred Heart University, where he worked closely with the Pioneers' goaltenders and coordinated the team's defense. Brazel also served as an assistant coach at Manhattan as the offensive coordinator and goalkeeper coach while also working with the faceoff specialists.

Faas will work closely with the Blue Hen attackers and goalkeepers while also establishing an offensive game plan for first-year head coach Kateri Linville. He comes to Delaware after serving as the top assistant at Division II Limestone College, a perennial NCAA tournament qualifier. While at Limestone, the Saints amassed a record of 52-7. He also brings international experience, having coached the Haudenosaunee Under-19 team at the 2007 World Cup.
