Dee Stephan Named Head Coach at Saint Joseph (CT)

WEST HARTFORD, Conn., Sept. 29, 2010 -- Diane 'Dee' Stephan has been hired as the new lacrosse coach at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford.

Stephan is an accomplished coach who recently retired as the Athletic Director at Ethel Walker School in Simsbury. At Ethel Walker and Avon High School, her teams had a combined 103-61-4 record in 10 seasons. She coached numerous All-Conference players, two All-Americans and six Academic All-Americans.

Stephan's teams at Ethel Walker won league championships from 2007-2010 and were New England Class C champions in 2009 and '10. She has also been a youth coach since 1993 and is the Director of the Conn. Dodgers travel club for girls in grades 7-11.

"We're very pleased to have Dee Stephan on our staff," Saint Joseph College Athletic Director Bill Cardarelli said. "She brings to us a wealth of knowledge about lacrosse and understands what it takes to build a successful program."

Stephan, a Clinton native, resides in Avon with her husband Chris and their children, Alexis, Ashleigh, Sandra and Christopher. She is a member of the Conn. chapter of the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame and a member of the U.S. Lacrosse Board of Governors.
