Bryana Borrelli to Assist Mason at Iona this Season

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College lacrosse head coach Michelle Mason has added Bryana Borrelli as her assistant coach for the 2010-2011 season. Borrelli is a 2010 graduate of Hofstra University, earning a degree in Physical Education after a standout four-year career with the Pride.

"I am excited to announce Bryana Borrelli as the new assistant women's lacrosse coach for the Gaels," said Mason. "Bryana's energy, passion, and knowledge of the game will immediately impact our program. While at Hofstra, Bryana excelled both on the lacrosse field and in the classroom. I know that her attitude towards hard work on and off the field will directly influence the players to step up their overall performance as student-athletes."

As a player for Hofstra, Borrelli was a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Award recipient and was named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll as a senior. She played in every game for the Pride in each of her final three seasons, and advanced to the second round of tryouts for the 2009-10 United States Developmental Team. Borrelli previously played five years of lacrosse at Irondequoit High School in Rochester, helping lead her team to two Section 5 State Championship games.

Mason added, "I look forward to Bryana beginning her coaching career here at Iona and am confident in her ability to develop our defense into the top defensive unit in the MAAC."
