Lehigh Men's Lacrosse Names Team Captains for 2011

BETHLEHEM, Pa. Seniors Richard Bradley, Will Scudder, and Jonathan Stumpf have been named Lehigh men's lacrosse captains, as announced by head coach Kevin Cassese on Friday. The three bring a wealth of on and off-field experience to their new leadership roles.

Bradley is a long stick defenseman while Scudder and Stumpf are both midfielders. Scudder is also the team's primary faceoff man, taking nearly 75 percent (521 of 696) of the team's draws over the past two seasons.

"I am proud to introduce three terrific young men as co-captains for the 2010-11 Mountain Hawk Lacrosse program," said Cassese. "Bradley, Scudder and Stumpf have emerged as tremendous leaders for this team. It is truly an honor to be elected by your peers as a team captain and I enthusiastically support these selections."

Bradley becomes a two-time captain after serving in the same capacity last year with Evan Guerrero, Max Copelan and Brian Bienemann. A starter since day one, Bradley has scored an incredible 10 goals and added two assists in his career while solidifying the Mountain Hawk defense. He is a marketing major in the college of business and economics.

Scudder enjoyed his second straight standout season at the faceoff X last year. After posting a .557 winning percentage as a sophomore, he won 140 of 251 draws last year (.558), good for 19th in the nation. A history major in the college of arts and sciences, Scudder has seen significant action since his freshman year when he played in nine of 15 games.

Stumpf has racked up 31 career points while carrying a strong 3.92 GPA as a double major in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. He is majoring in integrated business and engineering along with electrical engineering. Last year, Stumpf finished seventh on the team with 13 points and tied for sixth with nine goals.

"I believe the 2010-11 team will have tremendous leadership from these captains and several other capable leaders as well," said Cassese. "I look forward to working with these young men as we continue to formulate a plan for achieving the lofty goals that have been set for this team in the spring of 2011."

The Mountain Hawks continue their fall season on Saturday when they travel to the Nick Colleluori Classic to face Towson, Mount St. Mary's and Fairfield.
