Iona College Names Captains for the 2011 Season

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College lacrosse head coach Michelle Mason has named the captains for the 2010-11 Gael squad. Juniors Casey Scully and Kelsey Sickles will join seniors Caitlyn Collins and Elizabeth Coholan as this year's captains.

In three seasons Coholan has amassed 112 points, putting her third all-time at Iona. Coholan's career total of 83 goals is the third best in school history while the midfielder is also seventh in assists and draw controls and ninth in ground balls. Last season, Coholan led the team with 32 goals, 38 ground balls, and 45 draw controls and was named to the All-MAAC Second Team.

Also earning a Second Team All-MAAC selection was Collins, who had a team-leading 46 points as a junior. Collins led Iona with 18 assists and scored 28 times. In the all-time record book, she is seventh in points, fourth in assists per game, and eighth in goals.

Sickles and Scully both made waves during their first two seasons in Maroon & Gold. Sickles was named to the All-MAAC First Team after finishing second on the Iona squad in draw controls and caused turnovers and third in ground balls. Scully was the team's second-leading scorer as a sophomore with 30 goals a year ago. In just two seasons, Scully has climbed to fifth all-time in points per game, sixth in goals, and eighth in draw controls.

Coholan, Scully, and Sickles each started in all 16 games last season while Collins made 13 starts in 15 appearances. The Gaels begin their schedule at home against Connecticut on Feb. 19.
