NYIT Lacrosse Welcomes 21 Newcomers for 2011

Sean Rimmer – FR – Attack – Orchard Park, N.Y.
Coach Dunn on Rimmer: "Rimmer comes from a program with a rich Lacrosse tradition. He should see time on the attack using his shooting and riding abilities."
• At Orchard Park High School, Rimmer earned team MVP honors and was a second-team all-county selection.

Chris Schendorf – FR – Defense – Farmingdale, N.Y.
Coach Dunn on Schendorf: "Schendorf comes from a tradition rich program and is a big framed defenseman. He will see time on the base and will have a chance to develop physically during the year."
• Schendorf lettered in lacrosse at Farmingdale High School for three seasons, where he helped the Dalers to a Nassau County Championship in 2009-2010.

Nick Sidaras – FR – Defense – Mastic, N.Y.
Coach Dunn on Sidaras: "Sidaras enjoyed a good high school career, which will catapult him into action immediately for the Bears. A very good athlete, he will play on the defensive-midfield and/or the base. We want to take advantage of his athleticism."
• Sidaras captained his lacrosse and football teams at William Floyd High School, where he earned all-county lacrosse honors and all-division football accolades. He was also named the lacrosse team's MVP as a senior.

Jason Smith – JR – Midfield – East Setauket, N.Y.
Coach Dunn on Smith: "Smith will be used on our first two midfields, using his size and speed."
• Smith transfers to NYIT from Suffolk County Community College where he was a junior college second team All-American. He helped SCCC to the NJCAA National Championships and received All-Tournament team honors.

Scott Spencer – FR – Goalkeeper – Mason, Ohio
Coach Dunn on Spencer: "Spencer is a model student-athlete. A very good student and high school All-American in the goal, he will compete for a starting position. His work ethic on and off the field is a model for the rest of the freshman class."
• A high school All-American from William Mason High School, Spencer is a three-time all-region selection, a three-year varsity captain and the 2010 Ohio Student-Athlete of the Year. He graduated from William Mason summa cum laude and was vice president of the school's chapter of the National Honor Society.

Cory Triola – FR – Attack – Levittown, N.Y.
Coach Dunn on Triola: "Triola has been a pleasant surprise for us. Scoring many goals in high school, we feel he will be able to compete for a starting spot as our crease attack man. Our offense revolves around this area, and we feel Cory can make a contribution,"
• Triola joins the Bears from Division Avenue High School, where he was an academic all-county and all-conference selection.

Chris Varela – FR – Midfield – Easton, Pa.
Coach Dunn on Varela: "Varela will be on our midfields and EMO teams. He will have an opportunity to develop his skills and learn our system."
• Varela joins the Bears from Easton High School, where he was a four-year starter and a two-time first team all-league selection.
