Robert Morris Lacrosse Announces 2011 Schedule

After 10 days away from the field, its longest in-season break in 2011, RMU will head out for another three-game road trip while simultaneously beginning NEC play. Just as the Colonials have a tough season-opener, their first-ever conference contest in the NEC will be difficult as well. RMU will open league play at Mount St. Mary's, Saturday, April 2. The Mountaineers captured the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in their final season in the league and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2010.

The following Saturday, April 9, RMU will continue NEC play by heading to Quinnipiac to take on the Bobcats for the first time in school history. Quinnipiac finished among the top-10 nationally in both scoring defense and scoring margin in 2010.

The Colonials will conclude the road trip with their final non-conference game of the season. RMU will take on Canisius Tuesday, April 12. The Griffins, who advanced to the 2008 NCAA Tournament, and Colonials have met every season RMU has competed in men's lacrosse with three of the six meetings being decided by a single goal, including two in overtime.

Robert Morris will finish the season by playing three NEC games, including two at home, on three consecutive weekends. RMU will host Wagner, April 16, as the Colonials will seek their fifth victory in six meetings against the Seahawks. The Colonials will play their final road game of the regular season the following weekend, April 23, as they travel to Bryant for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs allowed a mere 6.59 goals per game last season. RMU will play its final regular season game April 30 when it hosts Sacred Heart. The Colonials have taken each of the past two meetings from the Pioneers, claiming the Patriot Game Trophy in the process, but neither game was decided by more than two goals.

Through the course of NEC play, the Colonials will hope to finish among the top four teams in the league standings to earn a berth into the first NEC Tournament. The NEC semifinals and championship will be held Friday, May 6 and Sunday, May 8 at the site of the No. 1 seed.

Robert Morris, who earned the program's first national ranking in school history in 2010, will look to top its school-record victory total from a season ago in the upcoming 2011 season.
