Vermont MLax Helps Raise $40,000 for Cancer Research

BURLINGTON, Vt. The University of Vermont men's lacrosse team took part in the third-annual Catamount Classic - Lacrosse For A Cure on October 10 and through the team's effort the event donated nearly $40,000 this year to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, making the three-year total nearly $100,000 donated to testicular cancer research.

Over 3,000 fans attended the event throughout the day to watch 12 top-level lacrosse teams compete in all-day scrimmages on Thayer Academy's off-campus fields.

Vermont helped raise funds for the tournament throughout the summer and fall as well, which included a Benefit at Ri Ra's Irish Pub on Church Street in Burlington. The team handed out hundreds of testicular cancer and prevention booklets to people in the restaurant and on Church Street, sold drawing tickets and collected donations.
