Soteriades Named Interim Head Lacrosse Coach at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio-- Denison University Associate Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation Lynn Schweizer announced that P.J. Soteriades will serve as interim head women's lacrosse coach for the 2011 season with a national search for Denison's next women's lacrosse coach to follow after the completion of the season. Soteriades replaces Stephani Schmidt, who recently accepted the head women's lacrosse position at Otterbein University.

Soteriades has served as the head field hockey coach at Denison for the last 11 seasons. She has won 94 games, one North Coast Athletic Conference championship and has guided her teams to six NCAC Tournament appearances. For seven seasons, spanning 2001 through 2008, Soteriades was also the assistant women's lacrosse coach for the Big Red. During that span she helped guide the team to 67 victories, two NCAC championships, and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

"Coach Soteriades is a veteran of the Denison coaching staff," stated Schweizer. "Her experience as a head coach combined with her familiarity and understanding of the game of lacrosse makes her an excellent fit for this interim position. We are appreciative that she has opted to help the department through this transition period."

Soteriades is a 2000 graduate of Ohio University where she received a bachelor of science in organizational communication. In addition to her role as head field hockey coach, Soteriades also serves as the assistant advisor to the Denison Student Athlete Advisory Council (DSAAC).
