Notre Dame (OH) Announces 2011 Lacrosse Schedule

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame Women's lacrosse coach Torrey McGowan has released the Falcons' 2011 schedule. The schedule features eight home games that are scheduled to be played at Korb Field at Brush High School.

For the first time ever, the Blue & White will have games broadcast with live audio on Broadcast schedule to be announced at a future date. will provide live audio 30 minutes prior broadcast scheduled games with the "Falcon Faceoff" pregame show.

Notre Dame's 2011 schedule features three first year programs, one NCAA-I program, 12 NCAA-II programs, two NCAA-III programs, and one Junior College program. The team will play three contests in February, eight in March, before wrapping the season up with five in April.

"Assistant Coach Aaron Jaffe did a fantastic job compiling a very competitive schedule featuring 12 NCAA-II games," Falcon Head Coach Torrey McGowan said. "Although what we are most excited about is the amount of talented teams we will see coming to Korb Field this year. Among others we will be hosting a NCAA-I Niagara, a top 10 NCAA-II team in Gannon, and the reining Junior College National Champion Monroe (NY)."

The Falcons are coming off last year's 11-5 campaign that saw them go 7-0 at Korb Field. Notre Dame has protected Korb Field in the past two seasons, with a perfect 11-0 record. The Blue & White have averaged 16.81 goals per game while allowing just 5.09 goals per game. The Falcons have netted 185 goals in such games while only allowing 56.

Notre Dame returns three of the top four goal scorers from last year's squad that scored a total 248 goals. The trio accounted for 42 percent (105 of 248) of the teams goals in 2010.

The 2011 schedule kicks off with NDC hitting the road for its first game of the season, traveling to Greensburg, Pa., to take on Seaton Hill on Feb. 23. Over the previous two seasons the Blue & White have won their only game in February, defeating Lees McCrae (N.C.), 19-1, Feb. 27, 2010. 2011 will feature three contests in the second month of the year.

The following weekend finds Notre Dame travels Hickory, N.C. for a showdown with first year Lenoir-Rhyne on Feb. 26, in the first of four road games during the college's spring break.

The team will then head to Winter Park, Fla., to face Rollins, before returning to N.C. to face Belmont Abbey (N.C.), March 4, and Regis (CO.), March 5, in Belmont, N.C.

The team then has a quick turnaround with their first home game against Oberlin on Thursday, March 10, before hosting perennial NCAA-II power, Gannon (Pa.), Saturday, March 12.

The Falcons wrap-up the five game home stand with games against Niagara, Urbana, and West Virginia Wesleyan. Notre Dame hosts the Purple Eagles on March 19, before taking on the first year Blue Knights on March 22. NDC concludes the home stand March 26, against the Bobcats.

Notre Dame plays at Tiffin in a primetime Wednesday night game on March 30 before returning to Korb Field at Brush High School on April 2 to face Indiana (Pa.).

The Blue & White then hit the road for two games, traveling to Delaware, Ohio, to take on the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan April 8 and the Blue Knights of Urbana April 12.

The Falcons season will conclude with two primetime games at Korb Field, April 14, hosting the Dragons from Tiffin, before welcoming the 2010 Junior College National Champion Monroe (N.Y.) April 19 for the Blue & White's Senior Night.
