Wayne State Announces Captains for 2011

Wayne State University Men's Club Lacrosse has announced its three captains for the 2011 season. The team was founded and is currently under the leadership of attackman Ian Gramer. Gramer, a Biochemistry/Pre-Med major played all 4 years at L'Anse Creuse North (Chesterfield, MI) and was all-state honorable mention as well as all-county.

When asked about what the team will bring forth come the 2011 season, Ian replied, "There is a great amount of diversity on the team, we have guys from all over Michigan. Everyone is really excited about starting this team and we look forward to playing! Alongside Ian, leaders of the team include Vice President Daniel Ngoyi, and Head of Marketing Jerry Fairbrother. These three individuals have gone to great lengths to ensure that WSU Mens Club Lacrosse can be successful in its inaugural year."

Daniel Ngoyi is a midfielder from University Liggett School (Grosse Pointe Woods, MI) with three years of experience and is majoring in Business Management at Wayne State University. In regards to preparing the team for their first season in the NCLL, Ngoyi stated, "I'm glad we are able to compete in such a deep, talented league and we already have a great group of guys ready to step on to the field and play. We are all proud to represent Wayne State University and Detroit, Michigan and contribute to the continual expansion of the sport. The team is working hard, and we are hoping to be very successful in our first year of competition."

Jerry Fairbrother (attack) is a recent transfer who also played at LAnse Creuse North High School with plans to major in Marketing at Wayne State University. Fairbrother begins his career at Wayne State with a wealth of lacrosse knowledge and experience, and has participated in multiple off-season leagues. Of these, the most notable is the L'Anse Creuse North alumnus, a summer team Fairbrother formed that is made up with the most determined players that LCN had produced from previous years. Fairbrother also helped coach Warren Consolidated Schools' very first lacrosse team back in 2006-2009.

When asked about advertising the WSU team, he responded, "Marketing the WSU team was a lot of work. We did everything from talking to people on campus to posting info on the Internet. In doing so, it was very rewarding and fun to hear the responses from everyone that saw about the team. Every week we are getting new faces asking about Wayne State University lacrosse and because of that the message is spreading out to all the local schools around Detroit."

Jerry also added, "We are already looking forward to all the recruits that will be graduating high school within the next couple years and our family will continue to grow to carry on the tradition."
