USA South 2011 Lacrosse Coaches' Preseason Poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Christopher Newport University, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Carolyn Raveia, was picked to win the USA South Athletic Conference 2011 lacrosse title in the preseason coaches' poll. Last spring, the Captains captured both the USA South Regular Season and Tournament titles for the fourth consecutive season.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University is the pre-season No. 3 pick in the USA South Conference women's lacrosse race in poll results announced Wednesday morning by the league.

Shenandoah, which saw coach Lindsey West named USA South Conference Coach of the Year last spring on its way to seven overall victories and a third-place finish in the league, received 38 points in the poll. Points are awarded on a 1-7 basis and coaches cannot vote for their own team in the poll.

Defending champion CNU is the pre-season pick to win it all again in 2011 with Greensboro the runner-up selection. The Hornets battled GC to a one-goal game in 2010.

Shenandoah opens up its 2011 season on February 26 with a non-league home game against Division II Shepherd. Opening draw on Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
