Lenoir-Rhyne Lacrosse Set for Inaugural Season in 2011

Hickory, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University head men's lacrosse coach Greg Paradine has announced a roster of 29 players for the 2011 campaign as the team prepares itself for the inaugural season.

"We are very proud of our inaugural team," said Paradine. "With nine states represented in this class, we have scoured the country to bring in a tremendous group of young men."

Paradine also announced the four captains expected to lead the team through the 2011 season: freshmen Connor Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Logan Hansen (Ponte Verde, Fla.) and juniors Patrick Estes (Crofton, Mass.) and Patrick Stasio (Williamsville, N.Y.).

"To have the opportunity to be selected as the first captains in the history of our program is a tremendous honor for these young men," said Paradine. "The four men were selected by their peers and the coaching staff was thrilled by the outcome. Each of them brings a unique style of leadership and has the trust of both the team and the coaching staff. On any team, quality leadership is essential to the success of the program. We are in great hands with these four young men leading our team in 2011."

Lenoir-Rhyne's inaugural men's lacrosse schedule features 15 matches including eight at home.

L-R opens the season on Saturday, February 12, when it travels to Belmont, N.C., to take on Belmont Abbey beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Lenoir-Rhyne's first home match takes place on Saturday, February 19, against Pfeiffer. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m. All of L-R's home contests take place in Moretz Stadium.

"Our goal is to bring in young men of great athleticism, character and a will to build the foundation of a top-flight lacrosse program," said Paradine. "We are going to employ a high-octane, up-tempo style of lacrosse and feel like we have recruited the type of athlete that fits that style of play.

"I have been extremely pleased with the team's progress this fall and how well they have bonded as a group. They have bought in to our vision of building something special here at Lenoir-Rhyne University. What this team lacks in experience, it makes up for in desire, will and athleticism."
