Greensboro Drops Non-Conference Tilt to Lynchburg

Greensboro, N.C. -- Lynchburg College defeated Greensboro College, 15-9, on Saturday at Pride Field. Toni Battaglia (Palm Beach Gardens, FL/Jupiter) and Melissa Gallaher (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) both scored three goals and dished one assist in the defeat. GC dropped to 1-2 and Lynchburg is 1-0.

The Pride rallied from a 5-2 and trailed 5-4 at the half. Gallaher's tally from Battaglia knotted the game at 5-5 with 2628 remaining. Greensboro scored five goals on its first six shots.

LC, however, scored the next three goals and never looked back. The visitors led in shots (31-15), draw controls (15-10) and ground balls (11-6).

Kendall Adkin scored four times and LC teammate Lesley Buckingham had three goals and two helpers. Pride freshman Michaela Sandoval had two goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Jessica Catanzano (Seaford, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) stopped 11 Lynchburg shots.

GC hosts Randolph-Macon next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
