No. 2 Le Moyne Pulls Away from Seton Hill

Syracuse, N.Y. Senior attackman Vinnie Alexander (Syracuse, N.Y. /Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) scored a career high eight points on three goals and five assists to lead the second-ranked Dolphins to a 13-6 victory over Seton Hill in the season opener. Up 6-4 at the half, Le Moyne utilized 10 goals in the second and third periods to pull away for its 12th consecutive win on opening day.

Le Moyne opened the scoring with the first of senior attackman Jack Venditti's (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) three goals on the day with a man-up goal off the stick of Alexander. Seton Hill quickly tied up the score at 1-1 on an unassisted goal from James Delaney.

Redshirt junior midfielder Tyler Sennett (Syracuse, N.Y. /Nottingham) dodged from the midfield to record two goals, wrapped around a Seton Hill goal from Greg Chaples, to give the Dolphins a 3-2 lead midway through the second quarter. Following a goal from senior midfielder Jikado Hanna (Hopkinton, Mass/Hopkinton/Bridgton Academy) at the 4:01 mark, the Dolphins and Griffins traded goals over the final 2:26 of the half to head into the intermission with Le Moyne holding a 6-4 advantage.

The Le Moyne offense sparked in the closing minutes of the third quarter as the Dolphins rallied to score four consecutive goals in claiming an 11-5 lead heading into the final period. During the run, Venditti added two goals, Alexander added his third of the day and senior attackman Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/Syracuse) extended his consecutive goal streak to 33 games with his first goal of the season.

For the game, the Dolphins held the advantage at the face-off 'x' winning 15 of 22 draws. Senior midfielder Corey Bulken (Baldwinsville, N.Y. /C.W. Baker) won 14 of his 20 draws, in addition to collecting seven ground balls and recording one assist.

Le Moyne sophomore goalie Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y. /Canisius HS) recorded four saves against 20 shots in earning the victory in goal.

Seton Hill was paced by Chaples' two goals and goalie Christopher Ilse, who registered 11 saves against 37 shots.

Winners of 47 straight regular season games, the Dolphins (1-0) return to action on March 6th when they take on fourth-ranked Limestone at 12:00 p.m. at Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, Maryland.
