Wesley Outguns Neumann for First Victory

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College closed the first half with a 7-2 run on the way to a 16-11 win over visiting Neumann.

The Knights (0-1) led 4-3 after a score by Meghan Garsey with 21:06 left in the first half. Alyssa Prudente (Hereford, Md./Hereford) tied the score for the Wolverines (1-2) with just under 18 minutes and Katelyn Randes (Odenton, Md./Arundel) put Wesley ahead with 16:46 before the break.

Back-to-back tallies by Nina Cornog (Wilmington, Del./Concord) put Wesley up 10-5 before a late goal by Neumann cut the lead to four at the half.

The Wolverines built the lead to 16-8 after a score by Mia Brocco (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) in the second half before the Knights scored three unanswered goals to end the game.

Cornog led the team with four goals, while Prudente added three goals and a pair of assists for five points. Randes, Brocco and Anna Baker (Rock Hall, Md./Saint Peter and Paul) had two goals apiece.

Alyssa Batty (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made 12 saves in goal.

Alexandra Bohen did her best to keep Neumann in the game, scoring five goals and assisting on three others.

The Wolverines host CAC foe Stevenson on March 2.
