Centenary Opens with Win at Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (March 2, 2011) The Centenary men's lacrosse team (1-0) opened its 2011 season with a 14-3 victory over Mount Saint Mary (1-2), Wednesday in the inaugural game on the new Kaplan Field in Newburgh, N.Y.

Sophomore Robert Nuzzolese (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) scored a game and career-high six goals to lead the Cyclones, who saw five other players tally at least one point. Senior Joe Swantkoski (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) (three goals) and sophomore Conor Nolan (Hillsborough, N.J./Immaculata) (one goal, two assists) each contributed three points and sophomore Anthony Ciaston (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) tallied one assist.

Freshmen Tom Montalvo (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and Steve Orsini (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) began their Centenary careers with two goals and two assists and two goals, respectively. Junior goalies Kyle McVay (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Twp.) and Kyle Thompson (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) combined to record five saves while giving up the three goals.

Centenary returns to action on Wednesday, March 9, with a home game against Lebanon Valley at 3:00 p.m.
