Keating Leads #5 Roanoke by Birmingham-Southern
Jeff Keating scored six goals to lead Roanoke past Birmingham-Southern, 17-8 in non-conference action in Atlanta, GA Sunday afternoon. The Maroons (3-0), ranked fifth in the USILA top-20 poll, out-shot BSC, 53-22 and held a commanding 60-22 groundballs advantage.
Justin Tuma had two goals, three assists, nine groundballs and won 10 of 16 face-offs. Reid Mayberry added a goal and an assist for RC. Charles Pease (1-0) earned the win in goal for the Maroons. Mike Hardon collected six saves in the second half in relief of Pease.
The Maroons will play against Ursinus in their home-opener on Wednesday, March 9 in non-conference action. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Kerr Stadium.
