High Power Offense Propels Knights to First Win

Laurinburg N.C- The Knights (1-2) brought their A game when they took the field against Lake Erie College Monday afternoon. A combination of suffocating defense and efficient offense led the lady knights to a 22-9 victory.

Sophomore Megan Jolly had a stellar performance with four goals and tying a game high four assists in the Knights breakthrough victory. Jolly now has seven goals in the opening three games of the season.

The Knights came out focused and determined and soared to an 8-1 lead. Lake Erie started to find a rhythm offensively and made the score 12-5 at the half. But the second half belonged to St. Andrews, their fast paced offense proved to be too much for the opposition as they scored ten more goals in the second half.

That overwhelming offense was provided by Sophomore Victoria Bickett (Louisville, KY) who led the team with five goals, also dished out two assists and retrieved five ground balls, Senior Allie Faulhaber (Apex, N.C.) who netted four goals, and Senior Kim McDaniel (Joppa, MD) added three goals, four assists, and an astounding eleven ground balls. Defensively for the Knights Junior goalkeeper Meghan Powell (Annapolis, MD) sealed up her first win with seven saves.

The Knights hope to continue their winning ways when they take the field at home on Wednesday afternoon against Slippery Rock College at 4:00 p.m.
