Blackwell Enjoys Record Day Versus Lancaster Bible

FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Kelsey Blackwell of the Hood College women's lacrosse team (2-4) enjoyed a record-setting day during the Blazers' decisive 20-7 victory over non-conference foe Lancaster Bible College (0-2) Wednesday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

Blackwell scored a career-high seven goals and assisted on two others for nine total points, giving her 130 points for her four-year Hood career. That total surpasses the scoring record established last season by former teammate and current assistant coach Brandy Noel '10, who amassed 122 points (103 goals, 19 assists) from 2007-10. Blackwell has now registered 89 goals and 41 assists in the blue-and-grey.

Blackwell's seven goals in Wednesday's game are also one away from the single-game school record of eight, set by Tiffany Still '05 against Ferrum College in 2003.

Sophomore Caitlin Lawrence also reached a career-high with six tallies while junior Jennifer Fischer and first-year Megan Feldtmose both scored twice. Sophomores Miriah Stone and Jen Civick added single tallies to round out the Blazer scoring. Sophomore Amalia Franzese dished a career-best three assists in the win.

After LBC's Kirsten Fuller cashed in on a free-position shot at the 16:43 mark of the opening half to make it 5-3 Hood, the Blazers reeled off 10 unanswered scores and took a commanding 15-3 lead into the break.

Junior Helene Butler finished with five stops between the pipes for her second win of the season while Lawrence controlled 11 of Hood's 17 draw wins on the afternoon. Senior Abby Dyjack forced three Charger turnovers and grabbed five ground balls for Hood.

LBC's Rachel Warren finished with a hat trick in the losing cause.

Hood next hosts Neumann University in a nonconference game at noon Saturday at Thomas Athletic Field.
