Gargiulo Ties Career High as Lycoming Falls at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. Junior Grace Gargiulo (Branchburg, N.J./Immaculata) scored four goals to tie a career high, but the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team fell victim to 12 straight goals by Allegheny College, as the Warriors fell 16-6 at the Robertson Complex in non-conference action.

Junior Grace Gargiulo (Branchburg, N.J./Immaculata) got the Warriors (0-2 overall) off to a quick start, finding the back of the net just 2:20 into the match. The Warriors kept momentum going, as senior Kate Issennock (Sparks, Md./Hereford) scored three minutes later to take a 2-0 lead.

The Gators (1-1 overall), responded, though, scoring the next three goals before Gargiulo tied the game at three with 20:52 left. After a Gators' goal, Gargiulo again dented the twine for her first hat trick of the year at the 19:06 mark.

The Gators took control after that, though, scoring four goals to take an 8-4 lead at halftime and the first eight of the second half before Gargiulo notched her fourth tally with 1:33 left. Freshman Ashley Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) rounded out the Warriors' scoring with five seconds left.

Gargiulo and freshman Amber Graybill (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) each collected two groundballs to lead Lycoming and senior Libby Stoesz (Akron, Pa./Conestoga Valley) stopped nine shots in net. Gargiulo also added two caused turnovers.

Kiah Voyer-Colbath led the Gators with six goals and an assist and Brennan Maine added three tallies. Monique Villanueva and Jensen Paterson each added two goals. Becca O'Shurak posted five saves in net.

The Warriors open their 2011 home and Middle Atlantic Conference slate on Friday, March 11, when Arcadia University heads to the Shangraw Athletic Complex for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
