#13 Dickinson Nets 7 Straight to Down Kenyon

(Carlisle, Pa.) The #13-ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team scored seven goals in the second quarter to break a 2-2 tie en route to its fourth straight win, turning back Kenyon College, 15-6, on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior Geoff Akie scored twice in a span of just 30 seconds to put Kenyon on the board, and up 2-0 at the 9:53 mark of the first quarter. The Devils answered as first-year Brian Cannon (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) scored off an assist from sophomore Christian Beitel (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) and then returned the favor, assisting Beitel to knot the game 2-2.

The Red Devils tallied five straight to open the second quarter, stretching the advantage to 7-2 at the 5:20 mark. Bobby Kingsley (Bethesda, Md./St. Albans) capped the run with back-to-back goals just under a minute apart. David Clarke answered for Kenyon before the Devils tacked on two more in the final 1:09 to hold a 9-3 lead at halftime.

Sophomore Mike Reid (Ruxton, Md./Loyola) opened the scoring just two minutes in the third quarter and Beitel scored back-to-back to stretch the Devil lead to 12-3 at the midpoint of the period. The Lords finished the quarter with a pair of goals to cut the deficit to 12-5 at the end of the third.

Cannon tallied two more assists, finding Brian Gleason (Darien, Conn./Darien) and Kingsley for goals early in the fourth. Gleason finished on a great pass from first-year Will Scott (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) to close out the scoring for the Red Devils.

Clarke added an assist to Will Lowe with 1:32 remaining for the final of 15-6. Hunter Louderback won six face-offs for the Lords (1-1) while Charlie Sayre controlled a team-high four ground balls.

Cannon led the way for Dickinson with two goals and four assists. Beitel added three goals and two assists while Kingsley finished with three goals as well. Sophomore defenseman Peter Zouck (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) caused a pair of turnovers and controlled three GBs. Brandon Palladino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Basking Ridge) caused three turnovers on the day and recorded a pair of GBs.

Junior Chip Murray (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) won 9 of 15 face-offs and controlled five ground balls. Parker Waldron (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) won 5 of 7 and Carter Moore (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) went 3 for 3 in face-offs on the day.

Sophomore goaltender Greg Hanley (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) made 11 saves while junior Nick Pohanka (Alexandria, Va./Landon) came on and made a nice save in the closing minutes.

The 13th-ranked Red Devils improve to 4-0 on the season. They are home again on Saturday, hosting #5-ranked Roanoke College at 2:00 pm.
