Visiting Oberlin Starts Fast, Downs Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Oberlin College used a strong start to fuel an 8-3 non-league men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon on Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium.

The Yeomen (2-1) scored the first two goals of the game to take a lead they would not relinquish over SU (0-5).

Tyler Keegan cut the deficit in half with his unassisted goal for the Hornets at 6:53 of the first, but Oberlin answered with four straight to pull away.

Shenandoah was held scoreless from Keegan's tally until P.J. Cooper converted a Gregory Love feed 3:13 before the end of the third, but it was too late.

OC scored four goals in that 33:40 Hornets scoreless span and held at least a four-goal lead the rest of the way.

Daniel Fineman closed out the day's scoring with his tally off of a Dylan Holmes assist with 11:36 remaining.

Oberlin outshot SU 30-18 and held a slight (47-41) edge in groundballs.

Junior Sean Mack was 6 for 10 from the faceoff 'x' to help Shenandoah win eight draws.

Hornets goalkeeper Andrew Fleischmann made nine saves.

Shenandoah hosts first-year program Ferrum College next Saturday at 4. This game is the second half of a doubleheader with the SU women.
