Spagnoletta Helps #3 C.W. Post Outgun SNHU

MANCHESTER, N.H. Lauren Spagnoletta totaled eight goals and two assists to lead third-ranked C.W. Post to a 24-16 victory over Southern New Hampshire University in women's lacrosse Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field. The Pioneers upped their record to 2-0, while the Penmen are 2-2 on the season.

Jackie Sileo finished with four goals and four assists for the Pioneers, who also got three goals and a pair of assists from Michelle Fucich.

Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) led Southern New Hampshire with seven goals and an assist. Freshman Ellie Morin (Scarborough, Maine) registered five goals and an assist, while the Penmen got single tallies from Phoebe Clark (Bow, N.H.), Sara Halbich (Salem, N.H.), Kayleigh Dube (Bourne, Mass.) and Jade Antonangeli (Bourne, Mass.).

SNHU jumped out to a 3-0 lead four minutes into the game following a goal by Mongeau, but the Pioneers would reel off six unanswered goals and a Sileo tally with 19:30 to go in the first half made it 6-3. The hosts countered with a three goal spurt, and an Antonangeli tally with just under 16 minutes left tied the game 6-6. C.W. Post ended the half by scoring 10 unanswered goals, and a score by Abigail Ross made it 24-16 at halftime.

The Penmen scored five of the first seven goals of the second half, and a goal by Morin with 19:38 left pulled the hosts within seven, 18-11. The Pioneers would put the game away by scoring four of the next five, taking a 22-12 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining.

Dominique Mosca played the first 53:13 in goal for C.W. Post and made 12 saves before giving way to Sam Powers, who allowed two goals in the final 6:47. Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass.) went the distance in goal for Southern New Hampshire and recorded 14 saves. The Pioneers held a 42-38 shot advantage on the afternoon.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action next Saturday when it opens Northeast-10 play at Southern Connecticut State University. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
