No. 10 Golden Lions Roar Past Georgian Court

Lakewood (NJ) - Junior Brooke Witkowski (Lindenhurst, NY) posted 10 points (3 G, 7 A) to lead the #10 Golden Lions past Georgian Court 22-12 in non-conference action. With the win, Dowling improved to 2-0, while Georgian Court drops to 0-4.

Going into halftime up 10-5, Dowling used 12 second half goals and two runs of four and five unanswered goals to pull ahead of Georgian Court in route to the landslide victory. Including Witkowski, five Golden Lions netted hat tricks, with Kelly Cefalu (East Islip, NY) leading all Dowling scorers with 5 goals. Cassandra Cronin (East Islip, NY) added 4 goals and 3 assists and freshmen Kelly Difede (Ridge, NY) and Samantha Stavish (Albertson, NY) chipped in with 4 and 3 goals respectively.

Head Coach Kerri McCabe was very happy with the teams performance, given the sloppy playing conditions. "It's early and we have allot to work on but I am very pleased with how the team competed today."

Between the pipes, Rachael Goldstein (Ridge, NY) picked up her second win, collecting 8 saves. Georgian Court was paced by Ryan McGrath who finished with 6 goals and 2 assists.

Dowling returns to action on the road in Massachusetts to face NE-10 foes Merrimack (3/18) and Bentley (3/20).
