Greensboro Routed in Visit to Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va -- Greensboro lost to Christopher Newport, 19-7, in its USA South opener. Melissa Gallaher (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) netted three goals for GC.

Greensboro battled hard in the first half tying the game multiple times after going down. 6-6 was the final tie of the game, before CNU took a 9-6 lead into the half.

Jackie Farrell (Little Compton, RI/Portsmouth), and three others had one goal for The Pride (2-3, 0-1 USAS). Greensboro was able to neutralize reigning USAS POY Kaitlin Quigley to only one goal, but 24 Pride turnovers plagued GC early and often in the defeat.

The Captains were paced by Ashton Marshall's five goals.

GC remains in the Virginia Beach areas to take on Virginia Wesleyan Sunday at 1:00 pm. Live stats are scheduled.
