No. 4 Hofstra Flies Past Air Force to Go 5-0

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. In its fourth-straight game away from home, the Air Force lacrosse team fell to fourth-ranked Hofstra, 11-6, on Sunday afternoon.

Hofstra, which remains undefeated at 5-0, scored the first two goals of the contest before Adam Paranka (Jr., Denver, Colo.) put Air Force (1-5) on the board with just over two minutes to play in the first period. However, the Pride regained control, going on a 4-0 run.

Trailing 6-1 midway through the second quarter, Air Force went on a run of its own, registering three straight scores with goals from Kyle Cassady (Fr., Columbus, Ohio), Tommy McKee (Fr., Holt, Mich.) and Zack Carroll (Sr., Freehold Township, N.J.). However, Hofstra's Ian Braddish tallied a pair of goals in the final minute of the period to give the Pride an 8-4 lead at the half.

The Falcons never got closer than four points the rest of the way, registering a third-period goal from senior captain Vinny Sandtorv (Centereach, N.Y.) and a man-up score from Carroll with just 10 seconds remaining in the game.

Air Force committed four fewer turnovers in the contest, but were dominated on face-offs, winning just 4 of 20 for the game.

The Falcons return home this weekend, March 19, when they host 10th-ranked Loyola in an ECAC match-up. The game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Falcon Stadium.
