No. 15 Bowdoin Flies by the Gulls

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back in a 15-5 win over Endicott on Tuesday afternoon at Ryan Field. The Polar Bears (2-0), ranked 15th in the latest IWLCA Division III poll, had 10 different players score in the win. The Gulls (1-1) suffer their first setback of the season in the loss.

Katy Dissinger led Bowdoin with a hat trick while Elizabeth Clegg added a goal and two assists. Chelsea Albright, Katie Stewart and Carolyn Gorajek had two tallies apiece, while first-years Jordan Smith and Olivia King recorded their first career goals for the Polar Bears. Morgan DeShaw led the Gulls with a pair of scores.

Katie Stewart scored twice to spark Bowdoin's 4-0 outburst in the opening 12:51, but Endicott goals from DeShaw and Molly Soles scores quickly trimmed the lead to 4-2 midway through the period. The Polar Bears responded with another four-goal surge, capped by Clegg's goal, to take an 8-2 lead at intermission. DeShaw's second goal early in the second period made it 8-3, but McKenna Teague answered for the hosts just 22 seconds later to key a 3-0 run that extended Bowdoin's lead to 11-3 with 18:17 remaining.

Bowdoin's defense, led by Stewart's four caused turnovers and three ground balls, forced 21 Endicott turnovers overall. Alexandra Brown made six saves and permitted three goals in 41:43 before giving way to Tara Connolly who made two stops and allowed two goals over the final 18:17. Leah Neff stopped 16 shots for Endicott, who got four ground balls from Kellie Cunningham and three draw controls Holly Davis.
