Lebanon Valley Doubles Up Eastern for First Win

ST. DAVID, Pa. - Hana Krechel tied a career-high with seven goals and Lindsey Buckman added four of her own as Lebanon Valley picked up its first win of the season, doubling up Eastern 16-8 in Middle Atlantic Conference play.

The Dutchmen (1-2, 1-1 MAC) did well to turn around a 22-12 loss to the Eagles (0-2, 0-1 MAC) last year; Eastern was picked fourth in the MAC preseason poll this season.

LVC outscored Eastern 11-3 in the second half to blow open a tie game, taking advantage of three Eagles yellow cards in the opening five minutes of the half to take control on goals by Krechel and Christy Wilson. Allison McGinniss added a goal and three assists, while Suzanne Sullivan had a goal and four draw controls to help LVC control the circle 15-11. Kristin Clift also scored twice with an assist.

Eastern picked up three yellows in a 4:20 span to start the second half, and the Dutchmen took full advantage, scoring three times in a 1:21 span to break open a 5-5 game. After an Eastern goal by Grace Griffith stopped the spurt, LVC kept the momentum going with four straight goals, part of an 8-1 run.

Corinne Palombo made 10 saves in goal to pick up her first career win. LVC's defense came up big, with Taylor Kruter picking up four ground balls with four draw controls and Mel Modrick scooping five GB's. Kristen Rooney had a team-high three caused turnovers.

Eastern's Lindsey Corbitt stopped nine shots in the loss. Griffith and Christy Hild had hat tricks to lead the Eagles offensively.

LVC controlled shots (28-23) and draws (15-11) while converting all three of their free position chances.

Lebanon Valley will visit Immaculata on Saturday.
