Connecticut College Tops St. Lawrence in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--Caitlin Cataldo (Milford, Conn.) made eight of her 14 saves in the second half to lead Connecticut College to a 13-8 victory against St. Lawrence in a non-conference game played at Lake Lytal Park in West Palm Beach Friday.

The Camels even their record at 2-2 with their second straight win, while the Saints fall to 1-3 with the setback.

Junior Hope Barone (North Kingstown, R.I.) tallied four goals, one assist and seven draw controls for the winning side. Katelyn Driscoll (Peabody, Mass.) chipped in with two goals, one assist, five ground balls and three caused turnovers for Connecticut College.

Abby Hill (Stoneham, Mass.) and Brianna Miller (Sudbury, Mass.) both scored twice for the Camels.

St. Lawrence University junior midfielder Kendall Harty (Norfolk, Mass.) netted three goals to lead the Saints in the loss. Kaitlyn Fahsel (Watertown, N.Y.) contributed four points with a goal and three assists.

Senior net-minder Anna Marchand (Concord, Mass.) made seven stops in the contest.

The Saints took a 3-2 lead when Fahsel scored an unassisted goal with 20:29 remaining in the first half.

But the Camels took control after that, scoring the final three goals of the half en route to a 7-1 run.

Driscoll scored the equalizer with 16:45 remaining, putting back a rebound of a Miller shot for the Camels. Less than a minute later, Miller buried a free position goal to put the Camels on top for good with a 4-3 advantage.

Barone closed out the first half scoring with 10:36 to go, caroming a shot off the hard grass surface into the back of the cage and the Camels enjoyed a 5-3 advantage in the break.

Barone and Maura Brazel (Boxford, Mass.) scored the first two goals of the second stanza just eight seconds apart to push the lead to 7-3. Later on in the half with 21:49 remaining, Brazel assisted Libby Nichols (Baltimore, Md.) for a goal that made it a 9-4 game.

Cataldo was able to take care of the rest with some acrobatic play between the pipes and the Camels were able to hold on for the 13-8 win. St. Lawrence will host Potsdam St. this coming Tuesday for a 6:00 p.m. game in Canton, N.Y.

The Camels will host Amherst College Wednesday afternoon for a 4:15 p.m. game in New London.
