Penn State Abington Loses to Misericordia

March 19, 2011- Abington, PA- Penn State Abington hosted Misericordia University in a non-conference game today at Huntingdon Road Fields in Abington, PA. The Nittany Lions lost 2-16 and dropped to 0-8 while Misericordia improved to 4-1 overall.

Sophomore Pat Gillespie (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) opened the game for Penn State Abington with an unassisted goal just 12 seconds into the game to give the Nittany Lions an early 1-0 lead. Misericordia finished the half scoring 8 unanswered goals to take an 8-1 lead at halftime. The Cougar's outshot Penn State 22-3 in the first half.

In the third quarter Misericordia scored the first 4 goals before freshman Kyle Andress (Doylestown, PA/ Central Bucks East) scored an unassisted goal midway through the quarter for the Nittany Lions. The Cougars would add another 4 goals, to win by a final of 16-2.

In net for the Nittany Lions was freshman Trevor Jones (Apopka, FL/Apopka). He recorded 5 saves in the game.

Penn State Abington will host Wells College in their NEAC opener on Saturday March 26, 2011. The game is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
