Visiting Guilford Downs Randolph in ODAC Action

LYNCHBURG, Va. Greg Nash's career-high four goals helped visiting Guilford College past Randolph College, 14-8, in both teams' Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse opener.

The Quakers improved to 6-2 overall with their fourth win in five games. Guilford's six wins are its most since the 1992 team won 10 contests.

Nash was one of eight different Guilford goal scorers in a decisive 9-1 run to start the game. After Randolph's Ryan Jarrett opened the scoring 8:50 into the first quarter, Guilford reeled off nine straight goals. Guilford outscored the Wildcats (1-6, 0-1 ODAC) 6-0 in the second quarter for an 8-1 halftime lead. The Quakers' Nick Mann tallied 1:15 into the second half before Randolph's Bobby Crosby scored the first of his five second-half goals.

Guilford's Chase Clausen scored twice in the second quarter and picked up three ground balls. Erik Dolliver and Taylor Teodosio also chipped in with two goals apiece off the bench. Despite Randolph's 17-9 edge in face-offs, Guilford turned the ball over just 12 times and cleared the ball on 16 of 18 attempts. Senior goalie Mark Guillen yielded five goals and turned away 10 shots in 54:40 before giving way to Blade Cruickshank for the game's final minutes.

Randolph's Crosby led all scorers with five goals. T.J. Story tallied twice and Stephen Allman had a game-high three assists. John Grundy won 16 of 21 face-offs and picked up a game-best eight ground balls.
