Centenary Scores 7 Straight to Down Richard Stockton

POMONA, N.J. (March 19, 2011) Centenary (3-1) dominated the first half with seven consecutive goals and defeated Richard Stockton (1-4) 11-5.

Joe Swantkoski (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) led the balanced Cyclones attack with a game-high three goals while Robert Nuzzolese (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) added two goals and two assists.

Seven different Centenary players scored goals in the game and Cyclones' goalkeeper Kyle McVay (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) backstopped his team to victory with 20 saves.

Brent Effenberger paced Stockton with two goals while goalkeeper Tim Wolcott finished with 10 saves for the Ospreys.

After Effenberger scored the first goal of the game, Centenary reeled off seven straight tallies for an insurmountable 7-1 lead. Nuzzolese led the outburst with two goals and an assist and Centenary went into halftime up 7-2.

Stockton outscored Centenary 2-1 in the third quarter to close the gap to 8-4 after three periods. But Swantkoski netted two goals in the fourth as the Cyclones maintained a comfortable lead on the way to the 11-5 victory.

Centenary returns to action with a home game against Alvernia on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
