McKeown Records 200th Point in Marywood Win at Alfred

Alfred, NY Marywood's Taylor McKeown recorded the 200th point of her collegiate career while Sarah Caughy added four goals to lead the Pacers to a 12-6 win at Alfred in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon. Marywood, winners of three-straight contests, improves to 4-2 on the season, while the Saxons fall to 1-1 on the spring.

Caughy gave Marywood a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal 2:29 into Sunday's game before McKeown doubled the Pacers' lead at the 26:10 mark by converting a free-position shot for the junior's 200th career-point to become the first Marywood player to reach the milestone.

Caughy stretched the visitor's lead to 3-0 by finding the back of the net after taking a pass from Allie Sodl, but Alfred responded with the next three goals to tie the score with 6:27 to play in the opening half. Kimberly Commisso put Marywood back in front just over a minute later and McKeown netted her second goal of the game to give the Pacers a two-goal cushion, but the Saxons cut their deficit to 5-4 at halftime when Michelle Adams scored with just one second remaining in the half.

Adams tied the game just over three and a half minutes into the second half, but goals by Sodl and Diana D'Achille gave the Pacers a 7-5 advantage with 25:25 to play. Alfred drew back to within a goal on an unassisted tally by Ali Garcia with 24:30 to play, but Marywood's defense would not allow another goal the rest of the way as the Pacers scored the final five goals of the game including two by Caughy and one apiece from D'Achille, Meg Barbarino, and Kathy DiGiacomo.

Caughy led all scorers with four goals while D'Achille (2 goals, 1 assist) and Sodl (1 goal, 2 assists) had three points for Marywood, who held a 29-21 edge in shots for the game and a 24-19 advantage in groundballs. McKeown (2 goals) and Barbarino (1 goal, 1 assist) also had multi-point performances in the victory.

Commisso and Sodl each had five groundballs to lead Marywood who also dominated the game's draw controls by a 16-3 margin. D'Achille collected a game-high 11 draws.

Megan Planz was solid in Marywood's cage, making 11 saves to pick up the victory.

Marywood returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Hackettstown, NJ to take on Centenary College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match-up scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
