Oswego State Weathers the Storm for Victory

PENN YAN, N.Y. - Oswego State closed out its five-game road trip with a 7-5 win over Keuka at Penn Yan Turf Field in Penn Yan, N.Y. on Monday night. Mark Briggs and Casey Balzer led the offensive charge with two goals each with Briggs also contributing an assist. The Lakers improved to 2-3, while the Storm dropped to 1-3.

The Storm struck first in the opening period, but Oswego State came roaring back with five unanswered goals capped off by a man-up goal by Pat Decker. Keuka ended the barrage with 7:13 left in the second quarter with a goal by Mark Butto to make it 5-2.

The Lakers responded with another tally when Andy Lever added his second assist of the game, finding Chris Porten with 1:46 left in the half. Oswego State came out of halftime picking up right where it left off. With 14 seconds off the board, Briggs found the back of the net for his second goal of the game. That would be the last tally for the Lakers as the Oswego State defense shut out Keuka in the third quarter. It was not until late in the fourth period when the Storm would add their fourth and fifth goals.

In addition to multiple points from Briggs and Balzer, Andy Lever chipped in his eighth and ninth assists of the season. The Storm was led by Gino Marcello and Mark Butto, each adding two goals.

Oswego State's Ian O'Brien picked up his second win with six saves, while Keuka's Brett Leonard stopped nine to suffer the loss.
