Maine Farmington Blows Past Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. -- Pat Hurley (Goffstown, N.H.) scored six goals to lead the University of Maine at Farmington men's lacrossse team to a 16-1 non-conference win over Rivier College this afternoon.

The Beavers (1-1) are scheduled to take on Wheelock College Sunday at 2:00 p.m. on the campus of Wentworth Institiute of Technology. The Raiders dropped to 0-1.

Hurley's single-game total and the team goals scored are records for the Beavers, who are in their second season as a varsity sport. Tennessee Peters (Scarborough, Maine) collected a hat trick and an assist in the win, while Rylan Cates (Camden, Maine) supplied two goals and two assists and Kyle Mitchell (Baltimore, Md.) put in a pair of shots.

Sean Berce (Auburn, Maine) and Dustin Webber (Portland, Maine) each registered a goal and an assist with Greg Estes (Bradford, Maine) tallying a goal, Sean Skillern (Naples, Maine) handing out three helpers and Matt Roy (Kents Hill, Maine) adding two assists.

Danny Hooper scored the lone goal for the Raiders, who were outshot 58-19 in the contest.

Led by two goals apiece from Hurley and Mitchell, the Beavers scored five times in opening quarter and strolled out to an 11-0 lead before Hooper scored with 3:29 remaining in the third.

Ben Altmaier (Farmington, Maine) stopped nine shots in his first collegiate win, while Mike Foley (Byfield, Mass.) and Kris Gagne (Lewiston, Maine) each grabbed eight groundballs to lead the Beavers.

Chris Benoit recorded 21 saves for Rivier.
