Maritime Shut Out at First-Place Montclair State

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 26, 2011) Maritime suffered a road loss to the top team of the Skyline Conference, Montclair State, 16-0, Saturday afternoon at the Red Hawks' Sprague Field. The defeat drops the Privateers' record to 1-5 overall (0-3 Skyline), while Montclair improves to 4-2 (2-0 Skyline).

For the Privateers, sophomore goalie Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) made four saves in the losing effort. Marietta and senior tri-captain Natalie Warren (Peachtree City, Ga./Homeschooled) each grabbed a team-high three ground balls. Junior Kristen Saporito (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) led Maritime with two draw controls, while classmate Catherine Brady (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) had four shots (all on goal) to lead the Privateers.

Senior Kayla Henderson and juniors Cora and Maggie Fallon each scored three times for the Red Hawks in the victory, while sophomore goalkeeper Tiffani Henderson made six saves for the shutout win.

Maritime returns to action tomorrow, when the squad welcomes in Keuka College from Upstate New York for a non-conference contest that's set to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
