Haverford Scores Final Four Goals to Down McDaniel

HAVERFORD, Pa. Josie Ferri scored three goals to lead Haverford to an 8-7 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Lisa Jurd (Columbia, Md./Hammond) recorded her second straight hat trick for the Green Terror (1-6, 1-2 CC), who dropped its third consecutive one-goal game.

Alexa Pesce, who finished with a goal and two assists for the Fords (5-3, 1-1 CC), converted a free-position attempt with 2:32 on the clock to break a 7-all deadlock and cap a 4-0 finish to the game for the hosts.

After Brittany Lines (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) finished a solo run to give McDaniel a 7-4 lead with 12:20 to play, Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds finished a Ferri feed just 47 seconds later.

Ferri hit a free-position goal after 33 more seconds had elapsed to make it a one-goal game. Perrin Downing knotted the game with 4:08 on the clock before Pesce's game-winner.

Megan Gallagher and Ferri staked Haverford to a 2-0 lead in the game's first 3:16 before an Anna Beaudry (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) tallied six minutes into the contest to slice the deficit in half.

Back-to-back markers from Jurd gave the visitors a 3-2 advantage with 19:33 showing before Ferri tied the game 5:02 later. A Jurd unassisted goal gave the Green Terror a 4-3 edge at the intermission.

After Herrick-Reynolds evened the score four minutes into the second half, Beaudry started a 3-0 counter that gave McDaniel a three-goal edge. A Mary Tokolish (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) free-position goal at the midway point of the period accounted for the other goal during the run.

Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) recorded five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Swarthmore on Tuesday. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
