Harding Paces Virginia Wesleyan Past Guilford

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. Tara Harding scored six goals in Virginia Wesleyan College's 20-11 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win over visiting Guilford College Saturday.

Courtney Williams scored three of her four tallies in the first half, which sparked the Marlins (4-5, 2-1 ODAC) to a 12-4 halftime lead. Guilford's E'Leyna Garcia opened the scoring with her first of three goals on the day, but the Marlins answered with the next seven scores before Guilford's Summer Frazier made it a 7-2 game midway through the half. Virginia Wesleyan's Natalie Belva scored three times during the decisive 7-0 run and also had four goals in the game.

Harding scored the first two goals of the second half for Virginia Wesleyan, which never led by fewer than eight goals in the second half.

The Marlins won 20 of 33 draws and enjoyed a 38-18 edge in shots. Williams collected a game-high eight draws and also picked up four draw controls. Frazier finished with four goals, an assist and five ground balls for the Quakers. Sarah Bradburd scored twice and picked up six ground balls.
