Devils Rally But Lose Heartbreaker to Bears

(Carlisle, Pa.) Dickinson College suffered another heartbreaking loss, falling to visiting Ursinus College, 8-7, on Saturday.

The Bears struck first but sophomore Kara Glazer (Towson, Md./Towson) answered just over a minute later to tie the game with 23:06 remaining in the half. The Bears went on a 3-0 run before the Devils struck twice in the final 3:26 to pull within a goal at halftime, trailing 4-3.

Junior Taryn Abbassian (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) finished an assist from Kaity Moore (Chestertown, Md./St. Andrew's, Del.) to knot the game just over five minutes into the second half.

Ursinus strung together another three-goal run to pull in front, 7-4, with 10:56 remaining in the game. The Devils weren't quite through, however, as Abbassian struck again on a free position 38 seconds later.

Junior Ella Clough (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius College Prep) drove and scored and senior Sunnie Ko (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) netted a free position with 6:09 to tie the game, 7-7.

The Bears capitalized on a free position of their own with 1:30 on the clock. Alyssa Thren converted and Ursinus was able to hold on down the stretch to secure the win.

Abbassian led the Devils with three goals and four draw controls while sophomore Linzi Burstein (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) dished out a pair of assists.

Senior Jessie Clark (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) made eight saves in goal for the Devils.

Thren led Ursinus (4-4, 2-0) with five goals, converting 3 of 3 free position shots. Riley Pembroke made eight saves on the day.

The Red Devils slip to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Gettysburg on Tuesday night for a 7:00 match-up with the Bullets.
