#1 Michigan Shuts out #10 UC Santa Barbara

Sophomore midfielder Willie Steenland (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) notched his first of the game to open the fourth, followed by goals from junior midfielder Robert Healy (Rochester, Mich./Notre Dame Prep) and Paras over the next six minutes. Following a long-stretch of back and forth play where the Michigan defense continued to hold strong, sophomore attackman Zach Dauch (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Lahser) wrapped up the scoring with just 38 seconds left in the game after dodging through two defenders as the Maize and Blue won 21-0.

Statistically, Michigan dominated every category. They out-shot UCSB 53-16, scooped up 48 groundballs compared to 25, and won 16 of 25 faceoffs. Michigan cleared the ball at a fantastic rate of 20 for 23, while riding the Gauchos to 11-24 totals. U-M scored twice on six man-up attempts, while UCSB failed to score on their lone opportunity.

The Wolverines will be back in action at home on Friday, April 1 at 7:00 pm EST against Colorado State at Oosterbaan Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor, MI.
