Shenandoah Routs St. Vincent to Post 10th Straight Win

WINCHESTER, Va. Shenandoah University ran its women's lacrosse winning streak to 10 games Sunday afternoon with a 16-2 non-conference victory over St. Vincent.

For SU coach Lindsey West, the victory comes on senior day and is the second straight day that her Hornets (10-2) have beaten one of her alma maters.

On Saturday, Shenandoah took a 16-2 USA South Conference win over Methodist. West is a 2006 Methodist grad and earned her Master's Degree from St. Vincent in 2008.

As with Saturday's victory, SU jumped all over its opponent in the first 30 minutes.

The Hornets scored the first five goals of the game and took a 10-1 lead into the halftime locker room as they forced 14 of the Bearcats 18 turnovers.

Senior Sara Mucciaro did most of the damage during this span for the victors, scoring three goals and dishing out two assists while freshman Samantha Sisson had two goals and an assist and Corrinne Kosmowski three goals.

SVC (0-3) got its only first half goal on an unassisted tally by Liz Baile-Louison at 16:23.

Sisson got the running clock started with goal off of a Jennie Ott feed 4:08 into the second, and after Kosmowski made it 12-1 at 18:37, the hosts had at least an 11-goal lead the rest of the way.

Mucciaro led all scorers with three goals and four assists for seven points, Kosmowski had four goals and Sisson three goals, two assists, six groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Shenandoah outshot its visitors 29-11 and owned a 32-25 advantage in groundballs. St. Vincent did win 11 of 20 draws.

SU plays its penultimate non-conference game of the season on Tuesday with a 4:00 contest against Oberlin.
