Occidental Comes up Short Against Buffalo State

LOS ANGELES, Calif. Buffalo State made it clear, quite early in the game, that they would not be leaving Patterson Field without a controlling victory over Occidental College.

The visiting Bengals appeared unstoppable as they began the game with a 7-0 lead. It was not until the 11:40 mark, in the first half, that freshman Tori Larson would get the first goal for the Tigers. But, the Tigers goal would not slow down the Bengals as they continued into the half scoring four more goals. Occidental would go into the intermission down 12-1.

Buffalo State came out in the second half with the same momentum scoring two more quick goals. But, with a new surge of energy, the Tigers would go on a 3-0 run led by Larson and Sarah Kessler. The Tigers goals would soon be matched with three more by Buffalo State, who would go on to finish the game with a 20-6 victory.

Larson and Kessler would lead the Tigers with three and two goals, as Haley Gandsey would find the back of the net as well.

Occidental would match Buffalo St. in draw controls with Rebecca Belding securing four for the Tigers.

The Tigers (3-6, 0-1 SCIAC) will be back on Patterson Field Wednesday, March 30th as they host their first conference game against Pomona-Pitzer. First draw is set for 7:00 p.m.
