Shenandoah Runs by Oberlin to Win 11th in a Row

WINCHESTER, Va. Shenandoah University earned its 11th straight win Tuesday afternoon with a 19-8 non-league triumph over Oberlin.

The Hornets (11-2) tie a program record for victories in a season with the win over Oberlin (3-2).

The Yeowomen actually scored the opening goal of the contest, getting an Amber Grace tally 36 seconds into the game to take the early lead.

This lead would be short lived, however, as SU tied the game just over two minutes later and proceeded to score six more goals to take an insurmountable lead.

Six different women scored in this run with only freshman Samantha Sisson scoring more than once.

Sisson, the USA South Conference Rookie of the Week, capped the spurt with goals at 19:49 and 15:43.

Oberlin threatened to make a game of it by netting three straight in a span of 5:20, but Sisson started a 6-0 run that sandwiched halftime with a goal off of a Sara Mucciaro assist at 7:09.

Sisson had four of the Hornets six goals in this back-breaking spurt to help her to a six-goal, one-assist afternoon.

In addition to Sisson's seven points, Sydney Anderson had four goals and two assists, Corrinne Kosmowski and Jennie Ott three goals each and Amy Rollins two goals.

SU outshot its visitors 34-19, won 17 of 29 draw controls and had a 32-22 advantage in groundballs. The Hornets also broke 15 of Oberlin's 22 clears and caused 22 of 25 turnovers.

Shenandoah travels to Greensboro for a Saturday for an 11:30 a.m. USA South Conference contest.
