No. 2 Salisbury Shuts out Hood in CAC Match

FREDERICK, Md.--The No. 2 Salisbury University Sea Gulls (11-1, 5-0 CAC) blanked Hood College (3-7, 0-4 CAC), 18-0, Tuesday afternoon in a Capital Athletic Conference game at Thomas Athletic Field.

Ten different Sea Gulls found the back of the net while Meagan Osipowich set up nine Salisbury scores on the afternoon.

Kati Vu and Julia Banks fired a pair of shots for Hood while Miriah Stone, Caitlin Lawrence and Abby Dyjack attempted one apiece, but three Sea Gull keepers kept the Blazers off the scoreboard.

Banks won four draws and Helene Butler registered five saves for the Blazers.

Hood continues CAC action Saturday at York College (Pa.) at noon.

FREDERICK, Md. The second-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team notched an 18-0 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Hood College on Tuesday afternoon.

This marks the first shutout victory for the Sea Gulls (11-1, 5-0 CAC) since Feb. 22, 2009; that game was also played against Hood, where Salisbury won 21-0. Salisbury owns seven of the nine in-conference shutout victories in CAC history.

Senior attacker Meagan Osipowich led the way for the Sea Gulls with a career-high 10 points on one goal and a personal-best nine assists. SU sophomore attacker Roxanne Raab collected six points, on three goals and three assists, which matched her career-high. Freshman midfielder Shelby Nemecek tallied a personal-best three goals in the contest.

The Sea Gulls received a pair of goals from juniors Alyssa Fowler and Mackenzie White, plus freshmen Katelyn Blondino and Halie Lear.

All three SU goalkeepers saw time during the contest, with senior Julie Ann Caulfield making three saves. Salisbury sophomore Caity Coleman and freshman Ashton Wheatley each staved off one shot.

Hood (3-7, 0-4 CAC) goalkeeper Helene Butler finished with five saves in 60 minutes of action.

The Sea Gulls are set to host St. Mary's (Md.) College this Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
