No. 2 Le Moyne Storms Past Pace

Pleasantville, N.Y. Senior attackman Jack Harmatuk (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers/Syracuse U.) scored four goals and dished out two assists to lead second-ranked Le Moyne to a 17-4 win over Pace in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Pace Field.

Senior midfielder Matt Chadderdon (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn), the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, got the Dolphins on the scoreboard first with an unassisted goal 2:51 into the contest. The goal marked the 100th point of Chadderdon's career, becoming just the 19th player in the program's history to reach that milestone. Senior midfielder Jikado Hanna (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton/Bridgton Academy) doubled Le Moyne's lead just 17 seconds later.

Following a Le Moyne penalty, Pace cut its deficit to one as Kevin Kadlick scored a man-up goal off a pass from Matt Gebhardt at the 10:14 mark.

The Dolphins answered back with five straight goals in a stretch of nine minutes and 46 seconds spanning the first and second quarters. Harmatuk picked up his first goal of the day at the 6:38 mark after a two-minute Le Moyne possession.

Classmate Jack Venditti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) found the back of the net on an extra-man opportunity with 3:10 remaining off a feed from Chadderdon. Redshirt junior midfielder Tyler Sennett (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) capped the scoring in the quarter with an unassisted goal with 2:39 left.

Senior Vinnie Alexander (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) pushed Le Moyne's lead to 6-1 with his 12th goal of the season off a pass from Harmatuk. The duo connected for Le Moyne's seventh goal just over two minutes later with Harmatuk finishing off a feed from Alexander.

Thomas Earl scored Pace's second goal of the game with 10:18 left off a Le Moyne turnover, but the Dolphins rattled off the next eight goals, including five in a span of 5:54 to close out the first half, to put the game out of reach. Chadderdon tallied his second goal of the game with 7:09 left, while Hanna scored 12 seconds later after picking up the ball of the subsequent face-off.

Junior Sean Connors (Camillus, N.Y./Marcellus) scored Le Moyne's 10th goal of the game four minutes before halftime by converting off a pass from Harmatuk. Harmatuk and Alexander hooked up again with 2:28 left as Harmatuk netted his third goal of the game. Chadderdon completed his hat trick and the scoring in the half with 1:15 to go after taking a pass from Connors.

After 4:48 of scoreless action to start the third quarter, Sennett scored off the rebound of his initial shot being saved. Just over a minute later, Hanna cleared the ball after a missed Pace shot and rifled into the back of the net his sixth goal of the season. Harmatuk capped Le Moyne's eight-goal outburst with an unassisted goal in an extra-man opportunity.

The two teams traded goals in the fourth quarter to deliver the final score. Kevin Kadlick scored his second goal of the game with 13:53 remaining off a pass from William Scioscia to make the score 15-3. Connors picked up his third point of the day 1:20 later with his fourth goal of the season. Freshman Chris Button (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) finished off Le Moyne's scoring with an unassisted goal with 9:56 left. Tom Murphy completed the scoring in the game with an unassisted man-up goal with 3:40 to go.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jeff White (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius HS) made eight saves in 44:22 between the pipes to pick up the win. Kevin Grady took the loss after giving up five goals in 15 minutes of action.
