Elizabethtown Routs DeSales in MAC Contest

HERSHEY, Pa. - Senior Shawn Corcoran (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) and sophomore Cory Boushell (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) recorded hat tricks to boost Elizabethtown College 's to a 13-2 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over the DeSales Bulldogs in Hershey, Pa., on Wednesday.

It took the Blue Jays (3-3, 1-2) 32 seconds to get on the board on a quick strike from senior Greg Kenneally (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield)to start the game on right foot. Seven shots later, E-town slipped in another one, this time on a shot by Boushell at the 8:34 mark of the first quarter to put the Bulldogs (1-5, 1-1) in a 2-0 hole.

Boushell dished to Kenneally for his second goal of the game with 3:48 left in the opening quarter, and Derek Kline (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) continued his impressive rookie campaign with a goal two minutes later for a 4-0 lead heading into quarter number two.

In a more back and fourth second quarter, Boushell and Kline netted shots to extend the Blue Jays' halftime lead to 6-0.

Then in the third, the Jays finished three shots in under a minute for a 9-0 advantage with 11:48 to go in the quarter. Dustin Mulcahey (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) scored the first goal of this collegiate career to start the mini-run, followed by goals from Derek Neiheiser (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and Brian Schaaf (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East).

Boushell reached his hat trick on E-town's 10th goal of the contest with 6:32 left in the third. It was Boushell's first three-goal game of the season and the fourth of his career.

Corcoran scored three straight goals to kick off the fourth quarter and give E-town a 13-0 lead with ten to play. DeSales got on the board with two goals in the final 3:22, but it was E-town that earned the 13-2 win for the team's first MAC win this season.

The Bulldogs' Brendan Guerrier recorded a game-high seven ground balls, though E-town won the ground ball margin, 43-28 on the day.

For the Jays, Corcoran tied a season high for points in a game (5) with three goals and two assists. Mike Kenneally (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Nick Thompson (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) also set season highs with four caused turnovers each for E-town.

The Blue Jays will look for their second MAC win on Saturday when they take on Manhattanville at 1:00 p.m.
