Washington & Jefferson Breezes by Bethany

BETHANY, W.Va. Junior attacker Andrew Wallick totaled a career-high 11 points on four goals and seven assists to lead Washington & Jefferson to a 19-3 victory over Bethany (W.Va.) on Thursday evening at Bison Stadium.

Wallick moved into third place on W&J's all-time scoring list with the 105th point (58 goals, 47 assists) of his career.

The Presidents (3-4) raced out to a 5-1 lead after one quarter following a pair of goals from Wallick and junior attacker Mark Ringeling (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills).

Wallick scored two more times in the second period, while sophomore attacker Joseph Eck (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) netted three goals as the Presidents posted a 12-3 halftime advantage.

W&J outshot the Bison (1-6), who are competing in their first NCAA Division III varsity season, by a 49-8 margin. The Presidents attempted 29 of the match's 34 shots during the first half.

Ringeling finished with four goals and one assist, while attempting 14 shots. Wallick scored on four of his five shot attempts, and Eck added four goals on 13 shot attempts.

Sophomores Tom Kozlowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and Jake Lippert (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and freshmen Casey Smallwood (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and Grant Stouffer (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) all added goals for W&J. Stouffer netted a season-high three goals, while Smallwood had two scores and also dished out one assist.

Washington & Jefferson also held a commanding 21-5 edge in faceoffs. Freshman midfielder Robert O'Grady (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) won 20 of the faceoffs and grabbed 12 ground balls.

Senior Matt Landfried (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) collected the win in goal after making five saves.

Kyle Arrington led the Bison with two goals, while C.J. Studnicky recorded nine saves in the goal.

The Presidents return to action on Saturday when hosting Hood (Md.) at 5:00 pm at Alexandre Stadium.
